The Force Awakens was an opportunity to do anything... anything. Instead JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy chose to reset all the achievements made in the previous 6 films, and do exactly the same thing. all over again.
And to save what, writer salaries?
The Rise of Skywalker is simply the end result of what happens when you begin a project void of creativity, and void of any plan. It's not disappointing because it's exactly what you'd expect from such a situation - an incoherent mess of a film which relies purely on nostalgia to in order to retain as much lost revenue as possible.
The obsession with money over creativity is becoming an increasingly concerning problem across multiple industries.
